I’m presently feeling a bit like the title of this film… it’s my favorite film… think what you will
We should be able to read minds - would make life tough and easy, and this film, “Lost in Translation” would make no sense.

Words…. Adrian’s task of a brainstorm forming a cloud of words… ended up with these words:
Solid
Appealing
Relevant
Provoking
Original
Engaging
Unconventional
Hole-proof
Educated
Academic
Entertaining
Universal
Stylish
Hard to come up with words – I think I had words like caramel in the big cloud…

I’m watching Heat right now because it’s on Foxtel. I have a bad habit of watching television, or at least having it on while I do work. I eventually turn it off in annoyance because I can’t think straight. Heat is quite a damn good movie… It’s structured really well, and written with amazing thought. The semi-improvised bit with De Niro and Pacino is so relevant to so many things…. I suppose the film revolves around that scene. Even though some of the dialogue is corny, or too “cool” in my opinion, it fits with the genre and the kind of actors playing those characters… Through writing and directing, I found that I really felt a connection to the main characters, and considering that they are opposing each other in the film, the tension hooked me. My point is, if you haven’t seen it, SEE IT! But it’s quite mainstream, so I assume most people who’ll read this will have seen it.
Anyway, this post is meant to be my comments on our wonderful abstracts
Poseurism » End of the World (…….of Warcraft)
I searched the word “mundane” on technorati.com and this was like the fourth or fifth search result… And since I thought I’d do my oh so complex “Online Documentary” on the community of World of Warcraft and how it’s a synthetic replacement for real life or “RL” (which is often referred to as some sort of crazy distant plane of existence by some players… and the common “RL over WOW, man” or “sometimes, RL happens”) I thought it might a good idea to link this to my blog so that I wouldn’t forget about it.

The dullest blog in the world « kris – research space
I can’t match this… the number of fans he has is ridiculous. Congrats to Kris for finding it.

This links to a photo of the sky on Sarah’s blog…
Some people waste their time with the past… and silly photos of the sky. Regardless of that, Adrian says Sarah’s blog is what we should all follow… So, I suppose, I will dig up old photos of dirt from 1953 and chuck it on my blog! I’m just kidding… hope this “track back” mumbo jumbo works.

Although the lectures are long, I’m finding the class quite valuable. Some of the areas we are touching on are indirectly relevant to my intended honours project. For example, my script (which I will post more about in the near future) focuses a lot on judgement, and religion and the power held by those who hold knowledge, or rather more accurately, the power held by those who feel they have great knowledge. The film will contain a lot of things, however I would certainly like to explore the ways in which those who think they are right may pass judgement – or those who hold power. It’s quite vague at this point as you can probably tell. Regardless, the definitions of power that we recieved in class with regards to the church in the time prior to the printing press gives me a clearer starting point for research. The idea that a priest who had smuggled a copy of the bible was burned alive is revolting to me but is strangely down the right path for my film research. The talk of “witches” and their treatment (and their reputation) sparks ideas in me for research to give better grounding and some sort of link or relevance to the past for my film, and the main characters. I think their struggles will be modern day mirrors of occurences in the past, because from what I’ve read, the fundamental fabric of how things work hasn’t changed all that much. At this point in time, this is just a bunch of random, generalised mumbo-jumbo, but I thought I’d start writing.
